GSE Associates, Inc. was asked to design a 7,000 square foot, single-story Senior Citizens Center for the community of Lutcher in St. James Parish, Louisiana. The building has staff offices, an arts and crafts room, a TV room, exercise room, beauty parlor, nurse’s station, a large activity room with restroom facilities and a cafeteria/food service center.

GSE designed a wood frame building with long span wood trusses for the roof. The roof is a metal panel, standing seam system. The exterior walls are masonry with brick and concrete block. There is a screened porch off one side of the building that overlooks a baseball field.

The building was designed with three covered entrances, with one suited for vehicle drive-up, one pedestrian entrance and the third for use by staff drivers to load vehicles for food delivery.
